Captain Josh Temple let us know that the fishing has
been absolutely outstanding for black and blue marlin
here in Puerto Vallarta this season. The first of the
big fish showed up in mid-June and our first grander, a
1038# blue marlin, was caught on live bait just 17 miles
from shore.
We are averaging 3 - 5 shots at black and blue marlin
per day out there for the last 3 months. On July 23rd we
went 7 for 9 on black and blue marlin including fish up
to 823#'s and we landed two double headers both
producing one black and one blue. Most of the fish have
been coming on live bait but lures have been producing
as well. Our best lures have been 7-Strand Electronic
Acoustic Lures or EAL's in the larger sizes.
The giant tuna bite this season has been spotty but some
real huge fish have been coming in. There have already
been several fish over 300#'s landed this season and
when the bite is on there's no problem landing several
fish over 200#'s per boat in one day.
All in all it's been an epic start to this season and we
are looking forward to the next 7 months of fishing
before we head to Huatulco, MX for the spring black and
blue marlin bite.
