RAPALA X-RAP SLASHBAIT
Roberto Ferrario

New category called
“slashbait” defines radical freshwater and saltwater bait
If you’re tired of epitomizing the classic image of a
fisherman sitting in a wooden boat alone quietly waiting
for a nibble, there is a way to change. If you want to
experience the “Xtreme” side of a day on the water, the
product is here.
It’s made by Rapala®. It’s called the X-Rap – the Xtreme
Action Slashbait. And the world’s never seen anything like
it.
The “X” stands for Xtreme, as in Xtreme attitude and
adrenaline-pumping. The lure cuts, darts and slashes its
way through the water, then comes to a roll at rest and
suspends to trigger strikes.
It catches fish at such an accelerated rate that anglers
may be tempted to taste it themselves, curious as to what
makes it such a delicacy. Our recommendation is to leave
that for those that breathe through gills.
“The X-Rap is the ‘dream lure’ of the 21st century - it
combines technical innovation and Rapala fishing know-how
to create a lure like nothing that hit the water before.”
The X-Rap is suited for multi-species angling, from
freshwater to in-shore applications. The X-Rap is the
perfect size, shape and 3-D dimension of a minnow-bait. It
features a textured translucent body and a holographic
foil applied to the interior for flash.
Internally, the heart of the X-Rap is embodied by Rapala’s
own non-lead internal long-cast weight transfer system and
oversized rattle mechanism. The thru-body harness adds
stability to the structure and guarantees that the fish
will be brought all the way back to the boat. All X-Raps
have heavy-duty split rings to match their aggressive
action. The saltwater X-Rap features even stronger split
rings and PermaSteel 3X hooks.
The X-Rap is available in 12 freshwater patterns, with
nine patterns carrying over to the saltwater collection.
Three unique saltwater patterns – Silver Green Mackerel,
Blue Sardine and Spotted Minnow – round out the assortment.
The freshwater model includes a flash foil teaser tail to
emulate the movement of live forage.
